What is MCP, and what can it do with your content?
You ask Claude to translate this week’s five articles. It does, overnight, through the CMS. In the morning, your reviewer reads each one and approves. MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is what lets an agent work in your tools like that.

# Hosted: sign in in the browser, choose the projects
claude mcp add --transport http moteur https://api.moteur.io/mcp
# Or local, through the CLI's sign-in

Servers, agents, and a person in charge
An open standard, published by Anthropic on 25 November 2024.
Servers
A server per tool
A product offers its actions as an MCP server: read an entry, save a draft, ask for review.
Clients
Agents connect to it
Claude Code, Codex and other AI apps connect to servers, and use their actions as tools.
Access
Someone’s permissions
An agent works as a person: with their sign-in, their projects, their role. Never more.
Review
A person decides
Good servers let the agent draft, then wait. A reviewer reads what it wrote before anyone sees it.
What to ask of a CMS’s MCP server1
Three products, three answers to the question that matters: can the agent publish on its own?
| Moteur | Sanity | Contentful | |
|---|---|---|---|
| MCP server | Official and hosted: agents draft, and a person approves before anything goes live | Official and hosted: reads, writes, and can publish with no approval step1 | Official, remote and local: reads, writes and publishes, with no approval step2 |
| Reviews | Drafts and reviews on every plan. A reviewer or admin approves | Drafts on every plan. Approvals are early access, or built yourself3 | Drafts on every plan. Approval workflows on Premium4 |
| AI in the product | Off until an admin turns it on. Credits on every plan, from 10 a month | 1,000 credits a month on Free and Growth5 | AI Actions, a paid add-on on Premium6 |

Questions about MCP
An agency developer asksIs MCP only for Claude?
MoteurNo. It’s an open standard. Claude Code and Codex both connect to Moteur’s server, and any MCP client can.
An agency owner asksCan an agent publish a client’s page?
MoteurNot on its own. It asks for review, and a person approves. A project can allow more, but nothing does by default.
A client’s editor asksDo we see what the agent changed?
MoteurYes. Its edits are marked as written by the agent, and the commit says who it acted for: “Louise via Claude”.
An agency developer asksDo we need to install anything?
MoteurNo. The hosted server is an address and a sign-in in the browser. A local one runs through the CLI, if you prefer.
Connect your first agent to a project.
Start for free, add the server, and ask it to draft something.
